The Feminist Initiative invited the Uppsala Democratic Kurdish Community Center to a member meeting to discuss the experiences and teachings of the women’s movement in Kurdistan.
The three women members of the association, who are responsible for female and exterior relations, made detailed explanations about the hunger strike and death fast actions initiated by HDP MP Leyla Güven and thousands of prisoners to break the isolation of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan. She pointed out that the revolution in Rojava, led by Kurdish women, has gained new successes every day and that there are representatives of people of different ethnic origins and beliefs in democratic rule.
She gave information about Jinwar Village, where women have founded and lived. They discussed that during the attacks of ISIS gangs in Shengal, the women of YPJ along with the PKK and YPG forces, and their heroism in order to rescue the people.
The seminar ended with the shouting slogan ‘Jin, jiyan, azadi ”.
