INDIA
In the midst of the rising tensions between Muslim and Hindu communities in India, due to the oppression of the Islamic community, hundreds of Muslims celebrated Eid-al-Fitr by praying Namaz on main roads.
The reaction of Indian officials was unpleasant, to say the least, as comparisons were drawn between Hindu communities, stating that Hindus celebrations of festivals are, by contrast, not disturbing anyone. While this may be true, the widely imposed torment on the Muslim communities in India must not be overlooked.
Over the past few years, we’ve witnessed on many occasions, India’s unacceptance towards Muslims. This has presented itself in many ugly forms; from public beatings of Muslim women, the raping of Muslim children in Temples, till the most recent footage of Hindu villagers forcing an elderly Muslim man to drink alcohol, which is forbidden in Islam.
The recently re-elected India Prime minister, Bhola Singh, threatened that “Roads should not be blocked. If it happens, it is wrong. Action should be taken.”
