HPG Press Liaison Center (HPG-BİM) announced that on April 7, during the bombing of Turkish warplanes, international warrior Sara Dorşin (Sarah Handelmann) was martyred. The statement stated: The fight for resistance throughout Kurdistan is waged with great heroism, labour and sacrifices. While the resistance of liberation, which continues under the leadership of the PKK, finds great repercussions all over the world, the struggles of our heroic martyrs based on a sacrificial way of life for the construction of freedom become epic and take their place in the unforgettable pages of history.
Many of our comrades who have fought against the fascist-colonialist Turkish army in Kurdistan have shown great heroism during this historical resistance phase and have not given passage to the fascists in Kurdistan. One of our heroes is the internationalist warrior Sara Dorşin (Sarah Handelmann).
Comrade Sara reached martyrdom on 7 April 2019 as a result of an air raid on the Media Defense Areas by the occupying Turkish state. The identification details of comrade Sara are as follows;

Coming to Germany in 1985, our comrade Sara recognizes the hostility of the capitalist system at a young age and seeks a struggle. Comrade Sara, who met many socialist organizations, was very impressed by the Kurdish Freedom Struggle.
She saw the extermination policies implemented on the Kurds as if they were made to her own people.
Comrade Sara, who encompasses the consciousness of democratic unity of the peoples, believes that capitalist modernity is the democratic modernity of salvation against the system that refutes, disintegrates and exploits the human, but that a political moral society can be created.
As a result of all these quests, Comrade Sara comes to the mountains of Kurdistan in 2017 in order to take part in the PKK movement, which is based on the ideology of free life of the Leader APO.
Comrade Sara, who started guerrillaism in the vast mountains of Kurdistan, quickly adapted to the mountain environment and deepened the ideology of the free women of the Leader APO. Coming to take part in YJA Star free women’s unions, Comrade Sara soon established strong ties with her comrades and became a well-liked model comrade.
Coming with great speed, our comrade Sara has made serious progress in the military field. Comrade Sara, a guerrilla of the modern era, served as the commander of the guerrilla units. Comrade Sara, who fulfilled her term duties in full, was also a pioneer commander of her comrades. Comrade Sara, who struggled with her love for freedom throughout her guerrilla life, was an active guerrilla commander who had played a role in the Kurdistan Freedom Struggle until her last breath.
Andrea Wolf (Ronahi), Uta Schneiderbanger (Nudem), Jacob Riemer (Şiyar) and many more comrades who are participating in our struggle are the symbol of this quest for freedom, and many German and European friends are currently fighting in our ranks. Comrade Sara was an important part of this freedom march.
Comrade Sara has made it clear that all humanity should come together in peace and live according to their own language, culture and national values, and how free life should be organized with the awareness that society should be organized on the basis of a democratic nation aiming at freedom.
The precious Handelmann family, their esteemed daughter in the struggle for freedom, are no less proud of comrade Sara. We extend our condolences to the precious Handelmann family for this painful loss. Through comrade Sara Dorşin, we once again commemorate all our internationalist martyrs who have reached martyrdom by taking part in the ranks of the freedom struggle of the oppressed peoples, which is the greatest indicator of the unity of the peoples, and we promise to carry the flag of freedom of our martyrs to victory.
