The blockade in the city, which has been the scene of protests for days, was enlarged in order to stop the destruction in the historical Heskîf, which was wanted to be submerged with the Ilısu Dam under construction. Despite the decision taken by the occupation district governor on 12 June, the Hêskîf is occupied by a large number of police and gendarmes, who were placed in the historic district to prevent protests.

5 armored vehicles and Gendarmerie teams, as well as 10 busloads of occupying riot police were positioned on the observation terrace in the district. Again TOMA and armored vehicles were positioned on the roads leading to Heskîf’s historic bazaar and the river section where the gazebos were located.

The reason why all these occupying police and soldiers were located was the press release that the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Assembly planned to do, but was canceled due to the blockade.
