MAINZ
The “Ankaras Puppets on Germany Tour” campaign launched by MAINZ – YXK to expose the cooperation of Turkish and German states continued with a panel yesterday in Mainz. The panel was attended by Nilüfer Koç from KNK and Murat Yılmaz from the leftist, Die Linke. Speakers on the panel drew attention to the Efrin occupation, aided by Germany which is in violation of international law. The panel also made evaluations on the historical process of Turkish-German cooperation. Approximately 50 people attended the event at the University of Mainz.
Although the event was conducted with permission from the university, the university administration tried to criminalize the event. Several police cars also arrived at the university before the event started, and the police came to the front of the hall where the panel was held. When asked why they came to the event, they said that they had been sent to the event by the police department. The fact that the German police put so much pressure on an event, in which the cooperation of the Turkish and German states against the Kurds was exposed led to comments by YXK students and participants about how right and correct the panel was.
After the panelists’ speeches, the questions of the participants were answered and the event was ended with applause.
