Today’s elections will be held to determine the Mayor of Istanbul. The third, fourth and other candidates will not affect the elections so much; these elections are between two powers. Firstly CHP Chair Ekrem Imamoglu, and secondly AKP/MHP Chair Binali Yildirim.
Who will win the elections? Attention is now directed to the later hours of the evening of 23 June to find the answer to this question. In fact, the election of Istanbul Municipality was concluded on the evening of 31 March 2019. However, the AKP-MHP fascism did not accept the results of the elections, similar to June 7, 2015, where the AKP dictatorship refused to submit to its power loss.
Instead, another set of elections were demanded, and AKP played its pathetic, special warfare games, manipulating its way to success. Many examples have confirmed this. Since they keep everything under control, they have always been able to enter the elections by guaranteeing the results of the elections in advance.
On 12 September 1980, the junta chief Kenan Evren won the polls approved by the constitution as a president with a vote ratio of up to 90%. This event is referred to as the “Straitjacket”. But this has not always been the case. Tunisia; Zeynel Abidin Bin Ali in Sudan; As in Omar al-Bashir, there were those who left the seat of power before the option of elections.
Of course, neither the general nor the presidential elections will be held in Turkey on June 23 during a referendum. Only, even if elected, the fate of the Mayor of Istanbul is sealed between the two lips of the Minister of the Interior.
But even so, it’s not that simple. Because such an election will be held in Turkey’s largest city. There is no doubt that in both Turkey will be an important influence in the international arena as well. Of course, these are important issues. Previous evaluations have been made on these issues. Therefore, there is no need to repeat them here.
To date, trends and preferences have become clear. If there are no critical developments, there are no indications to change them yet. The debate between Ekrem Imamoglu and Bin-Ali Yildirim, who was called to the TV screens of the viewers days before, did not reveal a different picture on this issue.
On the contrary, it has played no role more than to clarify prior trends and preferences. The important thing is to understand this reality correctly. The approach to the polls to be established on 23 June is determined accordingly.
Above, it was mentioned that dictators do not enter elections that they cannot win . Many commentators have made estimative evaluations of June 23, referring to this statement. On the evening of June 23, it is useful to keep this promise in mind until the election results are announced.
It should be noted that those who cancel the elections for Mayorship; if they do not believe the outcome they will not enter a situation where there is a risk of losing. In this election, Devlet Bahceli and Recep Tayyip Erdogan Votes will be cast in the ballot boxes established by Erdoğan’s instructions.
Therefore, from the beginning; It has the distinction of being an election which is under all sorts of corruptness from the votes to be used until the announcement of the results.
With awareness of such a reality, the citizens of Istanbul will go to the polls today and cast their votes. This reality, despite themselves, could have left them with a choice not to go to the polls. If that were the case, no one would have asked them why they had made such a choice. Because everything was in the middle. There was a won selection.
The loser didn’t agree. He did what he could, but when he couldn’t get what he wanted, he cancelled the election results.
Just as the trustees were appointed in Kurdistan and its municipalities were detained, the municipality was seized in Istanbul in the same way. What had to be done in the face of this was that the citizens of Istanbul should not give up their elected mayorship by protecting their own will. This is not the case. The reasons for this can also be discussed. What is emphasized here and tried to draw attention is not to start the discussion of this. That wouldn’t be right.
The important thing is to prevent the nullifying of the will of the people by drawing the necessary results from the previous experiences. As in the municipalities of Kurdistan, it is possible to have a similar approach within the Istanbul municipality.
Today, no one can claim that the election of mayorship to be held in Istanbul tomorrow will not be played at the beginning of the polls, the votes to be used and the results obtained. As in all elections and referendums that took place during the 17-year AKP government dictatorship, they will resort to similar games and tricks in the election for the Mayorship of Istanbul.
The dictatorship of Erdoğan will want to draw from the polls the results they had previously designed. This is understood very clearly. But, it is also incorrect to approach the elections with the idea that they have made all the preparations, somehow they are so willing to produce such a result, so there is not much to do. This is not a destiny. It cannot be as natural and illegitimate to defend one’s own rights and gains.
What is important here is to fulfil the requirements on 23 June.
