ELIH

The construction of the Ilisu Dam on the Tigris River, which the occupying Turkish state calls the Southeastern Anatolia Project (GAP), continues.

According to the official statements on the Ilısu Dam and Hydroelectric Power Plant Project, which started in 2006, the dam hatches will be closed as of 10 June and the watering process will be started. In this case, with a 12-thousand-year history, especially in Hasankeyf, 199 settlements will be flooded. The 87 ecological movements, including the Hasankeyf Survival Initiative and the Mesopotamian Ecology Movement, called for a Global Action Day for Hasankeyf, on June 7-8. Under the Global Day of Action, Austria, the USA, France, Iraq, and Turkey will carry out actions and activities in many cities.
