YPG Press Relations Center announced the identity of 18 fighters who were killed in May 2014. YPG said:
“We commemorate all the martyrs of revolution with the respect. We wish the families of our comrades and the health of our people.”
The statement includes the following statements:
“In Rojava of Kurdistan, our people have raised countless heroes in their long-term struggle for a democratic and free future, and have achieved invaluable revolutionary gains through the struggles of these heroes. Since the beginning of the Rojava revolution, the valiant sons of our people from all over Kurdistan have been fighting a great resistance against the enemy’s imposition to take over and destroy our people.
These valiant people, who manifest their lives for the freedom of the people and the success of the case, have proved that the struggle has greater meanings. Undoubtedly today, our leaders who pioneered to leave a unique legacy to our history, have been the martyrs who created values with their heroism in our freedom struggle.
In this context, in May 2014, we share the identity information of our 18 comrades who were martyred as a result of the clashes between our warriors and ISIS gangs in the villages of Serêkanîyê in Rojava.”
