The global strike for climate change call was made at youthforclimate.fr. Action was planned in 1700 cities in more than 90 countries around the world, especially in Europe. In France, actions will be taken 90 cities.
The ‘Youth for Climate’ collective draws attention to the European parliamentary elections to be held on 26 May and said “European elections are climate choices”. They called on the Collective to convene before European institutions, such as the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, the European Parliament buildings in Strasbourg and Brussels.
”The European Union should take the threat of climate change seriously and put the climate policies before all decisions,“ the statement said. The Youth for climate collective pointed out that social mobility for the climate was growing primarily in Germany and Italy, while stressing the increasing sensitivity in Africa and Asia, where so far had little participation.
More than 85 associations and unions in France are calling for action on the climate, while on Saturday it is expected to walk on foot in 80 cities. More than 200,000 young people participated in the protests within the framework of the previous global climate call in France on 15 March. More than 1 million people took part in the action throughout the world.
