ISTANBUL

After the iftar yesterday (28 May) in the Esenyurt District of Istanbul, the fascist Turkish police provoked youth who were sat on streets by carrying out a GBT check whilst swearing at them.

Many of the fascist police arrived to the scene. Locals reported that “They are a problem for our young people”. Six citizens were detained after the discussion.

Six citizens were taken to Esenyurt Police Station where they were tortured. A woman undergoing cancer treatment and chemotherapy among the detainees, requested her Identity Card because she needed to go to the hospital. The police, in an attempt to stall her treatment, did not release her Identity Card eventhough they had confiscated it. They simply stated that they no longer had the card.

With the arrival of lawyers in the police station, the police stopped the torture. The statements of the civillians were taken and they were later released.
