On the allegations that he protected a priest by covering up sexual abuse, an investigation was launched against Brazilian Bishop of Limeira, Vilson Dias de Oliveira. The bishop allegedly protected a priest accused of sexual abuse. The bishop also admitted to police that he had embezzled his donation money for personal use in April.
Dias de Oliveira, who posted his letter of resignation on the website of the bishop, said, In Limeira, the church is carrying out an attack against me and the other members of this community. For the good of the bishop, I take this path.
