The families of resistors gathered in Nisêbîn to protest the isolation of the People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and to make a statement. The families gathered infront of the People’s Democratic Party (HDP) accompanied by the HDP Mêrdin Deputy Ebru Günay.
The families made statements in the presence of the occupying police blockade in front of the district office. Accompanied by the blockade, calls were made to accept the demands of the prisoners in order to avoid further deaths. HDP Mêrdîn MP Ebru Günay said ‘Demands should be accepted as soon as possible‘ speaking on behalf of families.
“We are gathered here today to draw attention to the hunger strikes that continue amongst prisoners and our Peace Mothers. It means that every moment is even more important. More work falls in a geography where the right to life is so sacred. Here we are calling the authorities; in this process 7 lives ended in prisons. Without losing more lives, the demands of the hunger strike activists must be fulfilled as soon as the hearts of our mothers are burned.
The demands of our friends are very simple in essence. On the island of İmralı, we demand the regular and systematic continuous maintenance of the opinions of the family law, in which laws are guaranteed. Demand itself is legitimate and legal. Our friends are inviting this government to comply with the laws of this state and are using their right to resist. The statement ended with the slogans of the families ”Long Live The Resistance of The Prisons”.
