INDIA

Forty guerrillas of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA), led by the Communist Party of India (Maoist), captured the Timurpalli town in Odisha’s Malkangiri region on May 19.

The PLGA unit, which dropped a bomb to the local headquarters in the Panchayat building, took control with no injuries. During the action, flyers and brochures were distributed in the region. The guerrillas announced that their action was in retaliation for anti-tribal activities of the old state, including state governments. (The government forces claim to be a Maoist fighter, often tactically killing unarmed people to attack poor peasants and suppress political views.)

In Gadchirolli, HKP (Maoist) announced that it had destroyed 15 enemy agents. (It is not clear whether they are official or civilian.) The action was also addressed in response to the pressures of the state against the intellectuals and the revolutionary democrats, which they called the “City Maoists”.

Armed Actions During General Strike

HKP (Maoist) also carried out many important armed actions during the General Strike in Gadchirolli on 20 May. In a strike that paralyzed production in the region, they destroyed two warehouses and other equipment. The party had hung red flags and banners calling for a general strike with an open struggle against the reactionary forces in the region.

The revolutionaries used trees and banners to create barricades along an important road between Karamphata and Gurupalli in Etapalli Taluka. They hanged the banner on a vehicle the Maoists burned a few days ago. Communist flags were seen in the region. The shops across the region remained closed due to the General strike.

Guerrilla Ambush Protesting Unlawful Execution

Two members of the Special Assistant Police were injured during a PLGA ambush in the state of Jharkhand in the Ranchi region. The armed general strike was held on 27 April in Gundurwahi to protest the extrajudicial executions of HKP (Maoist) member Ramko Narote and PLGA guerrilla Shilpa Dhurva.

Every year, the reactionary Indian state is terrorizing the masses and the revolutionaries with the claim of ending the People’s War, and they face an embarrassing failure every year. The general Strike and armed struggle actions prove that the Maoists are committed to the struggle to bring New Democracy to the Indian people.
