ŞENGAL
In 2003, KDP started to transfer to the Şengal region sharing discussions with the central government of Iraq. After a while, they developed military activities such as high salaried peshmerga purchases and intelligence members to dominate the region. The state had agreed to establish a base.
The invaders, who grew in the region step by step, showed the first expression of their policies on Ezidîs with the massacre of Siba Şêx Xidir and Tıl Azer on 14.08.2007. However, the KDP, who claimed to be responsible for the security of the region, had not taken a step to reveal those responsible for the incident. Those responsible have not yet been found.
Êzidî’s have always been self-dependant; they farm agriculture and stockbreed for their livelihoods to ensure that they do not rely on the central powers. Until today they are a society which is known for having a strong connection to land. However, the aim of the KDP in the region was to create civil servants by attacking the land to create dependency in the society. By developing the idea of earning financial income by living at home more than that which is achieved by labour, people who had financial freedom had developed dependency through trade. The people had been removed from production step by step, in an attempt to centralise the wealth of the people.
As another measure of taking control, the domination of Shexan, Bavê Şêx and îzidî Ruhani Council which has a sacred importance for Ezidîs in South Kurdistan, is under the control of the KDP. The aim in this is to create dominance over the society through their belief dimension.
In this course, Ezidîs became people who were now dependant, being controlled and deducted from their warrior-spirituality. The last blow for the Ezidîs was all of the above combined, as Şengal had now become a DAESH target, because the people were vulnerable. In the face of the growing threat, KDP would announce that preparations were being made just before they made their great escape, leaving the people to perish. And a few civil servants who were now slaves of the KDP, made agreements to publicly announce that the KDP had left the people of Şengal prepared.
The stories of the heroic peshmerga, which stopped hundreds of Ezidîs from preparing themselves for the war, continued until the night of August 2nd. On the night of August 2, when ISIS launched its first sharp attacks. On this night, thousands of Ezidîs fought till the morning in Girzerik, Siba Şêx Xidır and Til Azer. The morning of 3 August, is when they watched the great KDP soldiers pack and flee before their eyes.
Hundreds of thousands of Ezidîs were forced to emigrate, tens of thousands of Ezidîs were slaughtered and tens of thousands were captured.
To be continued…
