The lawyers who had interviewed The Peoples Leader on May 2, went back to Imrali after just twenty days and returned to the press with an announcement.
While writing these lines, we do not have any other information about this interview. For example, how much did the lawyers talk to the Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and what did they talk about? Did they also be able to interview other clients in İmralı? Which messages did the leader Abdullah Öcalan and other revolutionary prisoners give? We don’t know any of this. While we are writing, we don’t know these things, but you’ll probably have important information by the time you’re reading.
Therefore, we will try to draw attention to some general truths on the basis of this consideration.
It is understood that the Tayyip Erdoğan Administration will make the decisions regarding lawyer (and maybe family) visits in İmralı in the following days. This will be the case until at least 23 June Istanbul municipal elections are held.
Because the Tayyip Erdogan administration is trapped inside and out, and there is no chance of winning the election of Istanbul. Because it is now clear that the most critical game that determines the election results is the vote of the Kurds. It is not clear exactly whether the interview with the fascist AKP-MHP administration will be made in İmralı. The Kurds, who see that the resistance of İmralı is expanding, have made it a serious possibility that the resistance will be raised more based on this course.
In any case, the Imrali talks, which were held twice in May, accelerated the political process. Apart from that, the political-military process was already very intense and fast. The increasing tension in US-Iran relations were pushing the AKP-MHP administration. The TC-Russia relations, which are still being protected, have been straining the relations of Tayyip Erdoğan administration with the United States. The ever-deepening economic crisis is causing the unemployed, burn their bodies.
Of course, it is necessary to add the influence of the actions of the Kurdish people and their friends based on the “Break the Isolation, Destroy the Fascism” move. Death fasting resistance in the dungeon leaves behind the twenty-fifth day. The co-chairman of the Democratic Society Congress and the HDP Hakkari MP Leyla Güven’s indefinable hunger strike, which was launched on November 8, 2018, is nearing its seventh month. Thousands of prisoners in the Turkish dungeons have been on hunger strike for six months. In four parts of Kurdistan and around the world there have been hunger-strike actions against the İmralı isolation and torture system for six months. With the influence of these actions, the Kurdish people and their friends have been standing in four parts in Kurdistan and abroad, and there are dozens of protests every day. Prisoners are not leaving the main streets of the city, twenty-four hours a day in Kurdistan and Turkey. Guerrilla actions, which have shown a steady growth with spring, have increasingly spread over every area. Demands of democratic forces and political circles from all over the world against the isolation of İmralı Tayyip Erdoğan are rising.
It is known by everyone that this resistance move has defeated the Tayyip Erdoğan Administration in the March 31st local elections. In order to alleviate this situation and to reverse the defeat, Tayyip Erdoğan’s administration has developed the habit of renewing the election of Istanbul with the help of YSK. So, after 31 March, Tayyip Erdoğan said “There is no elections for four and a half years” but in three months, has brought up a new election following his defeat. It is seen that the election in question increases the political tension much more.
In addition, the influence of Imrali talks has been added to the political process in which the narrowing foreign relations, the increasing economic crisis, ‘Break the Isolation, Destroy the Fascism’ move that has developed on the fasting line, and the March 31st local election results and the June 23rd Istanbul elections have accelerated the election process.
To be able to stay alive and to develop more than ever; intensive, sensitive and careful need to be sustained for twenty-four hours. This is necessary for all those involved in politics, as well as for the media. In such processes it is often difficult to have the opportunity to read and manage the political process correctly.
If we return to the Imrali meetings, it is necessary to understand and correctly explain the interviews. Once the lawyers go to İmralı and have interviews with their clients, it is nothing but the fulfilment of the requirements of constitutional and legal law. Therefore, it is necessary and important to always underline it. In other words, what is normal is that there is no political meaning to the interview.
The procedure is the legal procedure that is determined by the constitution and laws and is applied in all other prisons. Imralı is a place established in accordance with the law however there is no legal application, we know this.
Again, we know that Tayyip Erdoğan’s administration is instrumental in politics with its extreme pragmatist character. In short, in Imrali, even a small piece of law and morality does not work, on the contrary, a vicious hostage policy is carried out. This is the reality and we need to know it as this. Nevertheless, we still need to emphasize the legal right of İmralı negotiations, but we must not assume the attorney and family visits here are useful in any other sense than to make the case non-political. If it is politics that is prioritised regarding Imrali, it cannot be resolved by family members and lawyers, this must be achieved through other powers and institutions.
Secondly, we should never forget that the fact that the lawyer interviews, which have not been constituted for eight years, have been constituted twice in this May by the resistance of the Kurdish people and their friends, that is, the “Break the Isolation, Destroy the Fascism” resistance movement, we should always emphasize and keep it on the agenda. That’s because it’s absolute truth.
Everything is achieved by the resistance of the people and the guerrilla on the line of heroism. This is the necessity of respect for the resistance, the resistance to the insurgents, the people that have melted cell by cell due to the hunger strike of seven months and, most importantly, the heroic martyrs who have fought in the resistance.
As to give the right of Caesar to Caesar, we must deliver the fact that the main power that created the 2 and 22 May talks in Imrali is the resistance of the “Break the Isolation, Destroy the Fascism” move of the insurgents. We should never give opportunity to different meanings and distortions.
Lastly, it is necessary and important that we see the relations between the elections of June 23 and the right attitude. How much is the law of the lawyer negotiations in Imrali, if we say that it has no relation with politics and election, even though this is the case, the Tayyip Erdogan Administration does not get this close and it makes everything work for politics and elections. This is a fact of Tayyip Erdoğan’s personality and politics. In this sense, the Tayyip Erdoğan Administration has allowed the negotiations to influence the Kurdish vote in the elections in Istanbul. Otherwise, there is no change in mentality and politics.
In other words, the fascist, colonialist and genocidal mentality and politics continue. In this case, a simple tactic to be done based on vote hunting. Then we should see this fact well, and we must know what their tactics are. June 23 Istanbul should be crowned with the result of a complete collapse of the fascist-genocidal mentality and politics. In other words, we should be able to embark on politics in Istanbul with the selection of 23 June Istanbul.
