HALFETI
Ayşe Acar Başaran, spokesperson for the HDP Law and Human Rights Commission released a statement about the torture that is being imposed on the people of Halfeti. She said:
AGREEMENTS TO THE SHELVES
“In Halfeti, at least 38 people from random villages are being detained by reverse clamps and made to sit on floors; they are being put through medieval torture formats. This shows that all of the anti-torture agreements that have been signed by turkey are being lifted to the shelves. Each of them was visited by different lawyers and the condition imposed was that this would be under the supervision of the police, and to be limited to five minutes. The lawyers who interviewed the detainees stated that their clients were tortured severely, and were not being treated medically. They stated that the process is not a transparent one.”
THE SITUATION OF THE STATE
Başaran emphasized that a special torture policy is being applied especially in Van, Mardin, Muğla, Batman, Urfa, and Amed.
“The security forces of the state is demonstrating a demonstration of violence by torture, and oppression. According to the Turkish Penal Code, article 94 , torture crime is not subject to time, it is an act that will always be against the laws and this is not going to change. We remind the people who are committing these crimes that they will not enjoy their current protection forever. Once they are no longer protected, they will still be liable for their actions.”
Başaran mentions the barbarism in Halfeti at the end of his statement.
“We are doing what is necessary to the relevant jurisdictions in order to initiate an investigation into the common sense of this crime, the instructor, the special team, the police, the military and all those responsible.”
Lawyers reported that their clients are in an unrecognizable state, some have broken teeth and fractures skulls. Some have bled profusely and there are some who are unable to walk.
