Seven of the hunger strike activists detained at the Siwerek T-Type Prison of Riha, were taken to the Siwerek State Hospital yesterday after finishing their actions per the call of Peoples Leader Abdullah Öcalan. One of the insurgents who was taken to the hospital was handcuffed from behind while giving a blood sample; the insurgent fell from the stretcher thus breaking his head and had to have stitches.
Upon their arrival, the insurgents were told that preparations had not been made, because the absence of a specialist at the time. The general practitioner made the first assessments.
The lawyer of the detainee argued with the health workers and the gendarmerie, to remove the handcuffs. Lawyer Oktay, said that the gendarmes had to remove the handcuffs of the prisoners’ arms.
Oktay reported that the seven insurgents from the same prison, were taken to the hospital in the morning and had to wait many hours until the specialist doctor had arrived. After the blood samples, had been taken from the detainees, they were told that they did not have enough space in the hospital. Six of the detainees were brought back to prison at the night.
Oktay said that 26 prisoners were on hunger strike in the prison and that 13 insurgents had not admitted to the hospital.
