A total of 409 women were murdered and 387 children raped in Turkey in 2017, whilst over 3,000 cases were dismissed because the perpratator forced their victims into marriage. These statistics have more than doubled in the recent years, and today one more angel was added to these dirty statistics.
The woodmen of Vezirkopru, Samsun discovered the lifeless body of 1-year-old Ecrin Kurnaz, who was abducted on May 7. The woodmen noticed a shoe and some pieces of her clothes which were taken into forensics. Some amputated body parts were found 22 days later, including her amputated head and some limbs. The unrecognizable baby body was initially identified by her clothes.
The prosecutor mentioned in a statement that ”as a result of the search on the edge of the river bed, a skull and scattered bones were found, the investigation of the scene continues in the presence of the Public Prosecutor. ”
It was later reported that the baby had been raped, abducted and killed by her step-uncle. The Turkish media, who were previously concerned for the child remain silent on the topic.
