The motion that was put forward by HDP, Halfeti, to investigate the torture cases was rejected by a majority vote in the General Assembly of Parliament.
The People’s Democratic Party (HDP) sent an investigation proposal to the General Assembly with the signature of Urfa deputy Nimetullah Erdoğmuş to investigate the torture incidents in Dergili village of Halfeti district of Urfa. As the result of the clashes in the district, nearly 60 people were taken into custody and tortured, said: “Torture cannot be accepted under any circumstances, we propose that the parliament investigate these cases.”

CHP Group on behalf of the CHP deputy CHP Ankara deputy Tekin Bingol, said “torture is a crime against humanity, those who lose their humanity, conscience, soul is instructed to torture and massacre. In the past, many dark processes were passed. Unidentified murders, detained disappearances have always been experienced in this country. It exposes citizens to torture or expressions which occur in very few countries. Turkey is unfortunately one of those” he said.
AKP Mersin deputy Zeynep Gul Yilmaz, who spoke on the proposal, said that the footage of the media did not belong to the torture incidents in Halfeti.
HDP Siirt MP, Meral Danış Beştaş stated that “there is severe torture in Halfeti. The AKP government has gone from zero tolerance of torture to the point of full support of it”.
